Kalamunda Circuit Trail Naming Competition
WAMBA are running a competition to name the new trails on the South side of Mundaring Weir Rd.
The competition will consist of two phases; nominations and voting. Make your nominations here, or email them to info@wamba.org.au.
Voting will take place on the WAMBA facebook page.
The 4 trails to be named are (see attached map for more details):
1. The climb from the Munda Biddi to the junction near the powelines
2. The flowing descent from the powerlines back towards the Dell and Mercury St
3. The descent from near the old XXXX jump (now a table top) to the Munda Biddi and large powerlines
4. The singletrack from the powerlines to the Black Stump car park
I know that some people have been referring to 2 as Mercury St but Jamie Campbell (the trail builder) has indicated that he only ever intended Mercury St to be the short link trail at the bottom. However someone could still nominate this name and it voted the winner.
Nominations will close after the weekend and voting will start, so let's hear your ideas.

1. We have been to referring this trail as "Lilly Allen" (cos it makes you smile)
2. We have referred to this as the B!tch as it used to be really tricky before being cleaned up (and emails at work do not tolerate naughty words)
3. The Pot, cos it is like a part of little ovens, and riding it is flat out like the Tool song samely named.
4. Wasp, cos the old 2 trails here were know to many as Butterfly n Bee and this is much longer and up a notch or 2 in my opinion hence the larger species.
Jake,
Given half the MTB community is down at the C2C - could we extend the competition for a few days?
Yarg
We the crew I ride with always referred to no1 as Jamie's climb.
1. The Worm
2. Mercury St
3. Freight Train
4. Gauntlet
Good point Yarg.
Ok, closing date will be the end of next week or until we have enough good suggestions.
is there a full-sized map of that to cover the entire KC?
There will be soon.
I am just putting the finishing touches to it. Should be finished next week.
1 - Are we there yet (what gets said on every climb)
2 - Stingers (Cause its fast and you can sting it)
3 - Splinter (If you are of line on the jump between the trees thats what you will end up with)
4 - Needsum (Lacking TTF's big time)
1. spin doctor- it is theraputic
more to come
1) Road to heaven
2) Heaven's flow (so much fun must be like being in Heaven on a bike)
3) Devel's path (name after the tree in bath that looks like horns)
4) Roll n Stump (ride to black stump)
Great to see the Dell area getting a face lift and some new tracks to enjoy.
Big thanks to everyone who has made it happen.
2. Sanguinity
4. Easy Squeezy (between the narrow treesies)
1. Oh Mercy
2. Hallelujah
3. Dungeons
4. Wiggles (n Woks)
Hi Caution.
I like your names but I was wondering if you have got the first 2 back to front.
You mention that number 2 was a b!tch before it was cleaned up but number 2 is the new trail with the drop off, log ride and jumps that run down which probably is the one that makes you smile and number 1 is the rocky climb that has been cleaned up and though it has been cleaned up it wouldn't make many people smile.
Cheers
Murray
1: Bunyips - when I ride up this at night I always feel like one is watching/following me
2: Flat Out - thats how this section needs to be ridden
3: Yeow - it makes you say this
4: Forrest of Fun - nuff said
1. "Are we there yet?" Someone mentioned it earlier........and it probably sums it up perfectly.
Or leave it as "Mercury St"
2. "Please Sir...I want some more" So good, you could just do it over, and over, and over.
3."Air Time" As there's plenty of opportunities to hit some air over all those table tops.
4. "like a virgin" So fresh it still needs a bit of bedding in.
Jusride, my map and description wasn't clear which set of powerlines differentiates between tracks (3) and (4). I meant the more southern powerlines where the Kalamunda Circuit meets the Munda Biddi.
If we are talking about the same set of trees, then the Devils' Horns are at the start of track (4) - when riding the circuit clockwise.
1. B!tch
2. Lily
3. Nuts
4. Forest
thanks Murray, you are right, i got 1 & 2 arz about. 1. B!tch climb, 2. Lilly Allen or just Lilly.
1 - Again, Again. - The question is asked each time it is ridden.
2 - Campbell Downs. - In appreciation to Jamie Campbell for fixing our trails.
3 - Rollercoasta with the Mosta.
4 - Towards the Black Stump.
1. One more.
2. Too good.
3. Trilogy, riders can be heard screaming JESUS CHRIST,OMG,HOLY S**T
4. Forplay
Thanks Jake_WAMBA for clearing things up.
Agree track 4) Devil's Horn's
another alternative name for 3) could be "Air Time" got to love those jumps.
Thanks for all your efforts.
1/ Beam me up scotty
2/ RPG.
3/ Muffintops
4/ The Scalpel
1- L.O.L. (Legs of Lead)
2- Monkey Madness (Referring to Jamie Campbells normal occupation as a mechanic- ie grease monkey).
3- Top Stuff (because it's at the top)
4- Beyond the Black Stump (because it's behind the black stump parking).
CAUTION, best names so far.
Using some of previous suggestions and some new....
1. Blair Witch - refers to the bundle of sticks at the old start, it's spooky at night, and uses a bit "rhyming slang"
2. Lily Allen - certainly does make you smile and it's a cheeky minx of of ride.
3. Pump It Up - the top half reminds me of cross country pump track.
4. Devil Gate Drive - has that amazing start feature going through the horn like trees.
BTW is there a name for the established KC trail going from Black Stump car park to the Camel Farm? Everything else seems named and signposted on the north side of Weir Road.
Nominations are in, short lists have been drawn up and voting has opened for the trail names.
Make your choice on the WAMBA facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/wamba.org.au?sk=questions
If you're not on facebook, get your wife/girlfriend/children to vote for you.
Is to late to submit a name for section 3?
I was thinking of "Banzai"
We have a Kamicaze already and it's what comes to my mind when I hit that massive table top at speed...
