The ever popular Dirt Crit series returns in February at Garvey Park Belmont.

TBE are getting behind this series once again, and the tried and true course layout makes for excellent mid week racing.

$5 gets you the cheapest race entry in Perth AND a cold can of softdrink afterwards.

There are also a set of demo lights available from Ay-up that can be reserved before the event. I will try to make sure that these lights are available to people that have not used them before.

Hello,

Hope this answers your questions. If not, let me know.

Garvey Park according to Google: http://g.co/maps/q2c96

There will be four grades (A, B, C and D). A grade will start at 7pm, B grade approx. 4mins behind them. C will start after A have come through for a lap and D will start 30secs behind C.

The categories will do the following laps:
A Grade 6 (approx 50mins of racing)
B Grade 5 (approx 40mins of racing)
C Grade 4 (approx 30mins of racing)
D Grade 3 (approx 20mins of racing)

Bring your lights. Predicted last light for the races will be as follows:
21/2 19:26
28/2 19:18
6/3 19:09
13/3 19:01

The course is non technical and flat. It does get tight in places to pass but there are plenty of other opportunities elsewhere in the course, so be patient. It is a shorter XC race and can really be ridden on any bike although would best suit a hard tail. Nice relaxed atmosphere and there will be a BBQ after the last race on the 13/3.

Do you need a MTBA license?

Tempest's picture

Yes, an Mtba license is required for Mountain bike racing.

The CA/MTBA arrangement is only for cyclocross.

See the membership page for information on licensing.

Is there a link to register for this event or do we just do it on the day? Likewise with the first round race in jarradale?

Tempest's picture

Dirt Crits are always register on the Day.

The Jarrahdale race will be up soon. Maybe this weekend.

Who do we have to contact about the lights? Have they been booked yet?

Tempest's picture

Lights went the day I posted the thread.

You can book them for next week if you like.

Do we need both front and back lights or is Just a front ok for tonight?

If we need both does anyone have a back one they can bring along for me.

Thanks.

So, who was it that tried the hero pass right near the start/finish line in B-grade? All I remember is seeing someone flash across in front of me, rear wheel leading the charge, then a few lols from the crowd.

If there's a classic moment prize/ competition, I nominate that moment.

I was trying to catch the rider in front and took a wide line into the corner, ultra wide so I kept up heaps of speed. I saw, out of the corner of my eye, a rider gaining on us and thought, wow, I haven't touched the brakes yet and he's still gaining, must be going quick. Then ... FLASH - rear wheel, body, front wheel... then some lols from the crowd.

So, who was it! Own up! I'll donate a 6 pack of beer for best/ funniest moment of the series if that helps Laughing out loud

Hi Guys,

What that on the final lap? I was metres away from having you - that wide line you took was just begging me to have a crack!

dangerman's picture

Ha, the wide line is like a red flag to a bull!
It happened on the 3rd or 4th lap, not the last. I'm pretty sure I was chasing you but it was all a bit confusing. Might suggest we wear race numbers on our backs next time.

May be able to, I'll ask my partner. Live at Morley though and would probably have to be out there.
