Hello City of Joondalup/Cr Fishwick and Cr Ritchie
My name is Rob Evans. Myself and small children regularly use the bike track on the reserve (Lot 10054), Warwick, Chessell and Poynter.
It is a great facility and has a great play gym for families.
However the introductory bike track has fallen into a significant state of disrepair and is in need of a resurface. In places where has suffered water erosion could be described as unsafe.
This is a shame as is a brilliant area for kids and pursuing mountainbike and bmx introductions.
Could the council please think about laying down a new pressed surface of crackerdust/crushed limestone and some small reforming of the jumps? This would not be very expensive and could be done by a contractor with bobcat and thumper/roller. This would be rewarded with kids and families congregating and using city facilities.
We would all be very grateful.
Its reference in the "Western Australian Mountain Bike Trail Guide", page 205 is as such "This tired looking circuit...". This is a real shame as me and my 6 and 5 year olds love riding here.

Good work Rob.
I came across this little track about a month ago whilst visiting a friend up there in the far north and thought - wow that's cool, shame it's a bit knackered, wouldn't it be great if we had a track like it near the Kalamunda Circuit for kids (and big kids) to play on.
Now, thanks to you, the track in Duncraig is getting fixed up and the Kalamunda Circuit is getting a pump track and hopefully some other kids features.
cool little setup, look forward to hitting it both myself and with my young fella. next time i get there im going to fix the first jump (the on ewith bitumen on top). just need a shovel and a bit of the base cutting from side and putting in front and behind where it has washed out. few kids using it.
I have some leftover jarrah which i was considering building a little ladder with either drop of jump off end. wonder if i put it there if it would get taken away? if not im gonna put it in some of the trails near me.
ANyhow, gonzo or any other north side coasters if you are putting anything forward or need any help to do so for new trails or bike parks etc. would be more than happy to try to help.

Wont bore you with full email to Director of Infrastructure COJ but went past today just ensure that safety was paramount for the little (my) crew. Place seems same as 2 months ago despite assurance that action was ending in the 2-3 week time frame when wrote to them in May.
I am sure the City of J will follow through, but I just want to confirm if my kids were a little younger the running surface, the hard edges and erosion of crushed limestone and the eroded/sandy jumps would be a concern.
Still, a very young family was smashing and loving it and kudos to the Council for having vision. Just hoping it’s returned to original, or more hopefully, fulfils it’s full potential as a monarch of the suburban butterflies.

Hi Rob,
The repairs have now been completed – see attached photo.
I apologise for the delay as the bob-cat has been tied up since the heavy rains the beginning of June. Can I ask that you give me feedback on the repairs that have been completed ?

and wished the bike was in the back. I've ridden this in the past when it was degraded (not much fun), but keen to get out and have a good ride now that it's been fixed.
Great work Gonzo, thanks for giving the missus and I (and many others) a local highlight.

On behalf of Cr Ritchie and myself, I have passed your concerns onto the relevant Director at the City for appropriate action.

Dear Mr Evans and Councillors
I refer to your email regarding the bike track at Galston Park, Duncraig.
I am pleased to advise that the City will undertake repairs to the BMX track in Galston Park, Duncraig as requested.
The works will be carried out in the next two to three weeks.
The City will in future perform more regular checks of the bike track to ensure it is maintained to an acceptable level.

A council that actually services it's ratepayers, amazing!

its going to be great man next 12 months. in all areas, it is going well
Good to see a council with local facilities that are being maintained.
By that I mean preserved and continued rather than scrapped for fear of litigation.
Not enough councils have this attitude.
Congrats to you

Well done Gonzo,
All you need to do now is get them out for regular maintenance at our local MTB track and we will be really impressed.
