South West Highway Directions - Langford Park is located on Nettleton Road in Jarrahdale. This is about 45 to 50 minutes drive south from the centre of Perth. You can either go down the South West Highway and turn left onto Nettleton Road just as you leave Byford (Peak petrol station on the corner) and proceed along Nettleton Road until you cross a set of disused train tracks. The entrance to Langford Park will be on your right about 400m after the train line. You will cross the train line again as you enter the park and you should follow the signs at the round about that take you to the lake car park. On race day a marshal will direct you from the round about.

Freeway directions - If you come down the freeway (best for those people from the northern or western suburbs and Fremantle people) exit the freeway at Mundijong Road and turn left towards the hills. Take Mundijong road all the way to the South West Highway and turn right. Take an immediate left into Jarrahdale road and continue up the hill for about 3kms. Nettleton Road will be on your left just after you enter the 60km speed zone. Proceeed for about 1km and Langford Park will be on the left. Drive into the park and you will get to a roundabout, follow the signs at the round about that take you to the lake car park. On race day a marshal will driect you from the round about.

Welcome to the Hardwood 50 for 2017. Moving into its third year this PMBC Marathon event was enjoyed by all last year and we are looking forward to seeing you there for another great day of MTB Racing.
.

So again for 2017we will have two options for the race to encourage folks who maybe don't want a full half marathon ride. So there will be The Hardwood 50 XCM event as a three lap race around the Langford Park Trails. And again the Hardwood 30 event as a two lap distance of the same course. We are also running an independent U9 and U13 XCO event and a Handcycles Special Stage. So there is going to be lots to see, watch and participate in.

The course will be will be very similar to last years course using all the best bits of the great trails at Langford Park.

As always PMBC entry prices are very reasonable and entries for the Hardwood 50 are set at $50 for the 50km race and $40 for the 30km race. Handcycles $20 and U9 & U13 Juniors will be at $10 per rider. All funds above costs go back to PMBC, Junior Development and MTB in Western Australia

Registrations will open early next year

For the 50km race we will require permission for riders from age 15 to 17 to compete. This can be done by providing a letter from your coach to say you are capable of the distance. This is done to protect our junior riders and the club from issue as per MTBA guidelines. Any questions please feel free to contact me @ info@perthmtb.asn.au

Event village will be open from 7.30am and the race will start at 08.30am. If you are unable to race and want to volunteer we would be happy to have your help on the day, there's always something to do along with checking out the action on the track.

Main race will start at 8.30am (30 & 50k)

Timetable:
U9's 9am race one
U13's 9:30 race one

Hand cycles Race: using the U13 race track – this would awesome for us to watch and support as the crew that race hand cycles are an amazing bunch

U9's 11:30am race two
U13's 12pm race two

Hand Cycles can ride or race again at this time dependent on the choice of those participants.

The Bicycle Barista will be onsite for coffee's and the PMBC Junior fundraising crew will be cooking up a storm with sausage sizzles, drinks and other goodies. All these funds go direct to assisting our juniors race at the Nationals each year.

There will be some great prizes on offer thanks to the great folks at Bike Force Ellenbrook who are sponsoring the race this year. They will be there with a mechanic on site to assist with mechanical issues and hopefully some demo bikes to try out all going well.

I look forward to seeing many of you there on the day for the second running of this new and fun event.

Regards

Chris Park PMBC President
